ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS — Susan Smith, the recently installed moderator of the Monmouth Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church US, will be Sunday’s guest preacher at the First Presbyterian Church.

Nancy Condardo of Howell Township will be the organist in the absence of musical director David Nunez.

Smith  Sunday sermon is entitled “Mustard Seeds and Pearls” and will be based on Matthew 13:31-33 and 44-52.

She is a Middletown Township resident and a ruling elder of the Rumson Presbyerian Church.

She holds a master of divinity degree from the New Brunswick Seminary and serves on the steering committee of Presbyterians for Earth Care.

The Rev. Barbara Hicks will preach at the church, located at Third and East Highland avenues, on Aug. 6 and Aug.13.  

Hicks was born and raised in suburban Philadelphia. She received a bachelors degree in history from Temple University and an masters of divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary.

In the course of her 32 years of ministry, she served congregations in Ewing Township; Atlanta and Stone Mountain, Georgia; Toms River and Lakewood. Hicks retired in January of 2016 and has been a guest preacher since then.

She is a widow with two adult children and one granddaughter.
