LINCROFT, NJ – Making a welcome return to Lincroft, the Premier Theatre Company presents Footloose, the musical based on the classic 1984 film, at the Henderson Theater on the Christian Brothers Academy campus. Directed by Kasi Sweeney and musically directed by AJ Meeker, the show features choreography by Donna Battaglia and costumes by Kitty Cleary and Carole Malik. The production is presented through an educational partnership with Pegasus Theater NJ, an initiative led by Marcos Orozco, director of Pegasus Production Company at CBA and chairman of the science department, to promote the theatrical arts year-round at CBA and throughout Monmouth County.

Based on the original screenplay by Dean Pitchford, the musical, adapted for the stage by Pitchford and Walter Bobbie, contains music by Tom Snow, lyrics by Pitchford, and additional music by Eric Carmen, Sammy Hagar, Kenny Loggins, and Jim Steinman. Rodgers & Hammerstein writes, “When Ren and his mother move from Chicago to a small farming town, Ren…isn’t prepared for…the rigorous local edicts, including a ban on dancing instituted by the local preacher, determined to exercise the control over the town’s youth that he cannot command in his own home. When the reverend’s rebellious daughter sets her sights on Ren, her roughneck boyfriend tries to sabotage Ren’s reputation, with many of the locals eager to believe the worst about the new kid. The heartfelt story that emerges is of a father longing for the son he lost and of a young man aching for the father who walked out on him. To the rockin’ rhythm of its Oscar and Tony-nominated top 40 score (the soundtrack album reached number one on the Billboard charts and has sold over 15 million copies!) and augmented with dynamic new songs for the stage musical, FOOTLOOSE celebrates the wisdom of listening to young people, guiding them with a warm heart and an open mind.”

Nominated for four Tony Awards, Footloose was a smash hit on Broadway, with WNBC exclaiming, “Exhilarating! You’ll have a hard time staying in your seat!” Footloose plays performances on July 14, 15, 21, and 22 at 8 pm and July 16 at 2 pm at the Henderson Theater on the Christian Brothers Academy campus at 850 Newman Springs Road, in Lincroft, NJ. Tickets cost $28 for adults, $25 for seniors, and $20 for students and children on all performance dates except July 14, when tickets cost $19.90 to celebrate Premier’s first year of performances.
