SHREWSBURY, NJ – Neptune High School Students Vito Sorrentino and Reyne Bennett took first and second place in the People’s Choice Award respectively, Vito for his multi-media sculpture “Vinyl Siren”, and Reyne for her acrylic painting “Mushroom Lagoon”. Votes were cast at the Teen Arts Festival on March 16th and 17th at Brookdale Community College.
Thirty nine selected works from the Teen Arts Festival were part of the Guild of Creative Art’s “Best of Teen Arts” Exhibit. 118 people attended the opening reception on March 31st.
The show highlighted 1 student from Allentown High School, 1 from Cedar Drive Middle School, Colts Neck, 3 from Collier Alternate High School, 3 from Communications High School, 1 from Henry Hudson, 2 from High Point Adolescents’ School, 2 from Inspired Minds Fine Art School, 1 from Keyport High, 2 from Long Branch High, 2 from Matawan Regional, 3 from Middletown South, 1 from Monmouth Regional, 3 from Neptune, 1 from Ocean Township High, 8 from Rumson Fair Haven and 4 from Wall High School.

This was an energetic exhibit of artwork in various media: acrylic, ceramics, colored pencil, charcoal, collage, graphite pencil, ink and gel pen, ink and watercolor, micron and watercolor, mixed media, oil, pastel, pen and ink, sculpture, tempera and 3-D printing.
High school students’ shows continue into May with Rumson Fair Haven’s “#th1rt3en” from 4/7 – 4/19; followed by students of Red Bank Regional 4/20 – 5/2, whose opening reception is to be held on 4/21 from 6 – 8. Everyone is welcome.
