ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ – Chief Jerry Vasto reports on October 18, 2016 at approximately 1:20 PM a male subject entered Circus Foodtown (9Highway 36) in Atlantic Highlands and stole an elderly women wallet from her purse.  
The women’s purse ws stolen from her shopping cart while she was distracted.  The male person of interest is seen several times on surveillance video footage attempting to take the wallet from the purse before being successful.  The male subject then exits the store and leaves in a blue/green Ford sports utility vehicle.  

foodtown theft suspect 2The male subject is heavy set, balding, wearing blue jeans, blue shirt, and prescription glasses.  While watching the video it appears that the subject may have prior experience with this type of theft.  

Residents are urged to be mindful of the personal belongings while out in public.  Anyone with information in reference to the above pictured subject or vehicle please contact the Atlantic Highlands Police Department at 732-291-1212.  Please do not leave messages on facebook.
