MIDDLETOWN, NJ – A motor vehicle crash occurred at approximately  2:07pm Sunday involving Leonardo First Aid Squad ambulance at Thompson Avenue and Highway 36 in the Leonardo section of Middletown.

According to Aaron Ciccia, who came onto the scene after the accident, it “looks like (the ambulance) was coming down Hosford (Avenue)” near the Academy bus terminal.  The ambulance ended up on the highway barrier on Rte. 36. 

“There were five minor injuries and all were transported to Riverview.  The crash is under investigation,” Middletown Police Dectective Lt. Paul J. Bailey wrote in a brief email message.
