mt rage protestMIDDLETOWN, NJ – Protesters from R.A.G.E. (Residents Against Giant Electric) show their disapproval of a proposal to bring a electric transmission line along 10 miles of the rail right-of-way from Aberdeen to Red Bank.

The $75 million project by Jersey Central Power and Light calls for the addition of 230,000-volt line mounted on tall mono-poles.

Middletown township voted 5-0 last night to oppose the plan in its current configuration. The committee expressed concern about the impact the project could have on the Middletown Village Historic District. The NJ Board of Public Utilities has final say over any such plan.
