SEA BRIGHT, NJ -The Jersey Shore’s premier Professional/Amateur skimboarding contest takes place June 25 – 26 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the Sea Bright Municipal Beach, rain or shine. This is the 3rd stop on the ZAP Skimboard sponsored Skim USA Pro/AM Tour that also kicks out in Florida, Delaware and North Carolina. Now in its 12th year, this epic community event, which is locally sponsored by Jersey Shore Skim Camp and Sea Bright Recreation, attracts amateur and professional skimboarders from all along the East Coast.

There are 12 amateur divisions ranging from the minis at 8 years and under to senior grandmasters. Winners from each amateur division receive trophies and prize bags. Professional contestants compete for a cash purse. (Groups of 4 man preliminary heats run the first day and finals close out the second day.)

With a renewed focus on environmental initiatives, contestants will notice some cool additions to this year’s points-accredited competition, beginning with a new SkimBash logo designed entirely out of collected beach trash. T-shirts with the new logo have been made of partially recycled materials and will be given to every participant.

Sport bottles will also be given to contestants to use throughout the competition to prevent the use of disposable single-use plastic water bottles.

One-of-a-kind handmade trophies, created entirely out of items found along Jersey shore beaches, have been carefully mounted on driftwood bases and will be presented to winners from every division. Each one is unique and completely 100% from Monmouth County beaches (except for the brass engraved plaque!).
