ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ – On July 7, 2016, Atlantic Highlands orthopedic surgeon Dr. Mark Sobel and his wife Mary Grace will host an event to honor the five-year anniversary of the passing of their son Mark Jr. and his gift of life to Frank Romano. When Mark Jr. passed away at age 17 of a heart infection, his parents donated his kidney to Romano.

The July 7 event includes special guests New England Patriots football player Joe Vellano and Frank Romano. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Mark Sobel Jr. Endowed Scholarship at the University of Maryland, which supports undergraduate students pursuing careers in medicine. “Mark Jr.’s dream was to one day become a doctor. It is our wish that through this scholarship, others who aspire to the medical profession may come to realize their dream,” said Dr. Sobel.
