Port Monmouth, NJ – Tucked away on Compton Creek at the foot of Port Monmouth Road are the office and pilot boats of Interport Pilots Agency. Interport’s pilots will be guiding the Parade of Ships for Fleet Week New York 2016 on Wednesday, May 25th.   This will be the largest Fleet Week in many years and life-long Middletown resident, Captain Christopher Begley will be on the lead ship of the parade. Five other Interport pilots will follow on various Navy and Coast Guard vessels. Interport is the only maritime pilot group that is actually based in New Jersey; with areas of operation extending over six states and encompassing over 300 miles of pilot waters. They are currently the Navy pilots for the port of New York/New Jersey.

Interport is a local New Jersey business that has been based in the Bayshore area for more than 50 years providing employment for local residents in their office and on the pilot boats that transport their pilots to ships waiting offshore. The pilots have a long, diverse maritime background and are licensed by the Coast Guard, and the states of New Jersey and Connecticut to pilot and dock large ships. Interport is a small business with a large area of operations and a keen sense of responsibility to the local community they call home.
