Leslie and Mildred Lentz opened the Inlet Café in 1966. Originally called “The Lobster Pot”, the Lentz’ chose “Inlet Café”  when there was talk of building an inlet into Sandy Hook, across from the restaurant.

The Inlet Café began as a local tavern with a small clam bar and four outdoor tables. The original building was destroyed in 1975 by a catastrophic fire that started in a neighboring hotel. The Inlet Café was quickly rebuilt and expanded into its present form.

Today, the newly renovated seaside restaurant is owned and operated by siblings Douglas and Robin Lentz, and continues to offer the finest waterfront dining with spectacular views of the Sandy Hook Bay. The establishment isperfect for banquets and private parties, offering a variety of cuisines, with fresh seafood the most popular entrée. The restaurant  is open for lunch and dinner, seven days a week.

The Inlet Café was recently noted as one of “N.J.’s 20 Best Outdoor Restaurants” by NJ.com.

The Lentz Family invites everyone with special memories of the cafe, together with those who want to forge new memoreies, to join in celebrating a half century of providing the finest waterfront dining to guests from all over the world.

Rain date for the celebratory event is June 12, For more information, please call Robin Lentz at 732.872.9764 or email at [email protected]
