ah first presbyterian churchATLANTIC HIGHLANDS — The Rev. Paul F. Rack will preach that “moving with and in the Spirit is the meaning of human life” during his sermon Sunday at 11 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church.

The title of the pastor’s message is “Walking According to the Spirit” and it is based on Numbers 11:24-31, Romans 8:1-17 and John 14:8-17 and will be presented at the 126-year-old Presbyterian church at Third & E. Highland Aves.  

 

Elder Barbara Stone will serve as liturgist and the David Nunez-directed adult choir will perform.

“Walking according to the Spirit means setting aside the false demands and compulsions of the ego and turning to Jesus Christ,” according the Rack. “The Spirit is our interior connection to God, and to reality. The Spirit is life.”

All  area residents are invited to Sunday’s service while all young people are welcome to attend  Sunday School, both beginning at 11 a.m.

On Saturday, May 14, the church Board of Deacons  will be participating in the annual town-wide garage sale by selling bag lunches on the church steps.

On Sunday afternoon, the church will be participating in a Pentecost Prayer Walk  sponsored by the Area Association of Community Churches, starting at 5 p.m in Veterans Park on First avenue in front of the Wells Fargo Bank.

Area residents are also invited to attend the church’s weekly Bible Study at 11:15 a.m each Wednesday at Sissy’s Restaurant in the yacht harbor.
