MIDDLETOWN, NJ – On January 2, 2016 at approximately 6:09 pm Middletown Police responded to a report of a pedestrian accident at the intersection of Highway 36 and Main Street in Port Monmouth, NJ. Police report that John Chambers, age 36, from East Road in Belford, NJ, was struck by a vehicle travelling West Bound on Highway 36. Chambers was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver remained on scene after the collision. The cause and circumstances of the crash are under investigation.
The investigation is being conducted by Corporal Thomas Russo of the Middletown Police Traffic Bureau. Police ask anyone who may have witnessed the crash to call 732-615-2045.
