MIDDLETOWN – Police Chief R. Craig Weber is one of 36 officers statewide to earn an advanced certification from the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police Accredited Chief Executive program. The Mayor and Township Committee recognized him for the achievement at the Township Committee meeting earlier this month.

“We’re proud that our chief is one of a select few executives to earn this advanced certification,” said Mayor Murray. “Chief Weber has an outstanding service record and an impressive set of credentials. We’re lucky that he’s one of Middletown’s own.”

Chief Weber, was appointed police chief last year. He has been a member of Middletown’s Police Department since 1993. During his career with the department, Chief Weber has held various assignments in the Patrol Division, Traffic Safety Bureau and the Detective Bureau. In 2010, he was promoted to the rank of Deputy Chief and served as the Commander of the Technical Services Division, where he was responsible for the management and supervision of the Detective Bureau, Records and Service Bureau, Community Relations Bureau, Communications and Computer Operations.

Police Chief Weber has earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s degree in public policy from Monmouth University, and a master’s degree in administrative science with graduate certificates in law and public safety administration and human resources administration from Fairleigh Dickinson University.

In addition he has attended many professional development courses including the F.B.I. National Academy. Weber has also received a number of awards and commendations during his career, and has been recognized as Outstanding Law Enforcement Officer of the Year and Police Supervisor of the Year.
