dancers care foundationLITTLE SILVER, NJ – Dance Plus participated in Starbound’s National Dance Competition Benefit for Cancer research on November 1, 2015 where they presented a check to The Dancer’s Care Foundation and Robert Weill Cornell Cancer Research Center.

Dance Plus Performance Team, with dancers ranging in age from 6-18 were recognized for their valiant efforts in raising over six thousand dollars in one month for cancer research. Located in Little Silver, NJ, The Dance Plus Performance Team focuses on what they can give back to the community rather than being trophy driven.

Although receiving highest overall awards in multiple categories and the top overall high score award for the event, Dance Plus’ greatest achievement of the day was the presentation of their check to Sandy Coyte, National Director of Starbound Dance Competition on behalf of cancer research.

Dance Plus’ ongoing efforts to support charitable causes and community outreach events will continue through the holidays with a performance at the A.R.C. holiday party on December 12,  a performance for the Deborah Heart and Lung Hospital on December 18 at the Four Seasons in Lakewood, NJ and Dance Plus’ Adopt a Family” family program. Last year the Adopt a Family program extended to an entire village in Bugaboo, West Africa. This remote rural village lives on less than one dollar a day. Barefoot College has trained two community grandmothers as solar engineers to install solar panels. The Dance Plus Performance Team along with Dance Plus helped fund these grandmothers in their education. Their efforts have forever changed the destiny of this village as they gain the benefit of light, electricity and solar energy.
