The Apples are at it again!

Kindie artists and creators of Little Rockers – cool kids music classes™, have finally accomplished one of their musical goals by producing a holiday album!  Jessie and Chris Apple, along with bandmate Liam Moroney, worked all summer long putting together an upbeat collection of songs to make any yuletide bright!

Enjoy YULE BE COOL, an album for all ears, big and small, to enjoy together for the holiday season. This album celebrates the most wonderful time of the year with some classic favorites like “Frosty the Snowman” done in a not so classic way.  There are also some fun twists with a Jingle Bells mashup called “Jingle Bells Rock” as well as a nod to the early sound of The Beatles on “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.”

The Little Rockers Band produces music that is always energetic and fun.  The goal is to have all kids singing along, and there are plenty of opportunities on this album with a mix of holiday favorites and some brand new original tunes to rock your festivities.  “Hanukkah Is Here!,” a new composition by the band, is a spunky song to get in the spirit of the festival of lights, with lots to celebrate! A new, original Christmas song with a nice coffeehouse feel, “It’s Christmas Time Again” will have everyone snuggling up with hot cocoa and humming along.  All Little Rockers albums must be danceable and YULE BE COOL is no exception.  Be prepared and delighted to hear a song that’s not so typical for the season. Madonna’s early hit, “Holiday,” done Little Rockers style, will give you a reason to celebrate! It’s a surprising cover song to brighten any festivity. “Snow Falls” and “Let It Snow” bring a little soft relaxing warmth to this otherwise cold and frosty time of year, while “Dreidle Song” mixes jangly acoustics with smooth moog synths. Finally, the band’s rendition of “Feliz Navidad” adds a new verse about Hanukkah, just for fun.

YULE BE COOL is the fourth commercial release for The Little Rockers Band.  Previous albums have enjoyed award winning success (Parents Choice Award, International Songwriting Competition and Creative Child Awards) and have been the inspiration for many of the band’s videos and webisodes.  Jessie and Chris Apple write all of their original songs to use in their Little Rockers classes, concerts and parties and are inspired by the real lives of the kids they teach everyday.

Jessie Apple grew up in South Florida, raised by a single mom who supported the family as a professional blues/jazz singer. Acting classes and singing lessons were a fixture in Jessie’s life at age 8, and she was performing in professional theatre by the time she was 12. She has been seen in more than 25 professional regional theatre productions, as well as in such Off Broadway shows as Café a GoGo and Tony and Tina’s WeddingJessie is that rare triple threat who can sing, dance, and act.

Chris Apple, a Jersey Shore native, joined his first band when he was 14, and, at age 16 appeared in 130 episodes of Nickelodeon’s “Don’t Just Sit There” TV show, which featured Chris performing in the house band playing the show’s theme song, composing and performing guest intro music, and accompanying such artists as Debbie Gibson, Davy Jones, Rick Astley, Fishbone, and Milli Vanilli. Subsequent years found Chris playing bass guitar with the Latin rock band deSoL. The band enjoyed moderate success with their song Karma and toured extensively in almost every US state. In 2006, the band entertained hundreds of US troops in the mid-east for Armed Forces Entertainment.

The husband and wife team of Chris & Jessie Apple started Little Rockers – cool kids music classes™  in 2009, realizing a dream of combining their passions of Rock and Musical Theater. Beginning with about 20 families, more than 500 families now take their classes in 13 locations, employing 16 additional Teaching Artists to share their music.  Chris & Jessie teach together during the day, deal with administrative matters in the afternoon, and write, record and perform at night.

The Little Rockers Band, which also began in 2009, was originally conceived as a laboratory ensemble to design music and curriculum for Little Rockers music classes. The band (Jessie Apple, lead vocals/acoustic guitar;  Chris Apple, lead vocals/bass;  Liam Moroney, lead guitar/vocals; Billy Papenberg, drums) has since grown to become the focal point of a number of creative/educational projects, including live shows, webisodes, and school assemblies.

Previous Little Rockers Band albums include Count Me In! (2014), Playing in the Band (2012) and Ready for Rockin’ (2011).

Chris & Jessie Apple have also produced six classroom series CDs, available to families who participate in Little Rockers – cool kids music classes™.  Recently, a finalist in the Wells Fargo Works small business contest, they were featured in a mini documentary that will be promoted on the Wells Fargo Works website in late 2015/2016. Their latest projects include developing their 10 episode web series and the opening of their first music school and venue:  The Apple Tree – Music & Arts Center in Central New Jersey in 2016.

The Little Rockers Band is a group hailing from New Jersey and who come off, to me, as a fun and inventive kids band that just loves music, playing it, and sharing it as an instrument for learning….The album is a mixture of all kinds of styles from rock to country all thrown into the genre of kids music. It’s peppy, fun, and creative in that the band throws you a twist every now and then. My favorite of all of them was the cover of Paul Simon’s Me & Julio Down By The School Yard. I’ve never heard a more amazing cover of this song in my life.  – Shakefire, March 2014
