Dear Editor:

This November, voters in Atlantic Highlands will have the opportunity to bring significant and positive change to their Borough government. I am proud to be running for Borough Council along with Jack Archibald for Mayor and France Karras as my Council running mate.

I’m a Certified Public Accountant with years of experience advising businesses of all sizes. I have assisted my clients with budgeting, forecasting, expanding, contracting and restructuring. This experience is needed to better manage our town’s finances. In my opinion, the municipal tax rate has risen too steeply over the last several years, and the Borough’s budget needs fresh eyes to find ways to reduce costs without cutting services to our residents.   And the first place to look is the Harbor. The Harbor should be a significant source for revenue enhancement and cost savings.   Increasing the Harbor’s yield is also essential to paying down its debt. I want the challenge to completely review the Borough’s finances in depth and will always be open to innovative solutions and suggestions.

Like most people, I like to get the news when it happens. I believe that we have to make the information flow between the Borough and residents more effective and current. An occasional newsletter delivered by US mail is no longer enough in the 21st Century. The Borough needs to make use of e-mail and social media to make it easier for our town and residents to communicate with each other. My goal is to communicate with you through the media that you want.

Finally, as chair of the Atlantic Highlands Environmental Commission for the last several years and as the owner of a boat in the Harbor, I have a great deal of knowledge about the operations of the Borough and the Harbor. This is where I have passion, this is where I have drive and this is where I will make a difference.

Jack, France and I will bring fresh ideas and a new direction to Atlantic Highlands. We are asking Atlantic Highlands voters for their support and more importantly, their vote on November 3rd.
