Atlantic Highlands, NJ – The Atlantic Highlands Front Porch Club hosted its 11th Annual Chilifest on Saturday, September 26 at the Sandy Hook Bay Catamaran Club in Atlantic Highlands. With dozens of chili cook-off competitors and hundreds of attendees, the Front Porch Club raised nearly $20,000 to benefit the Henry Hudson Tri-District Education Foundation (HHTEF) and other local causes. The schools intend to use these funds to support innovative curriculum in the sciences, math and the arts.
Sarah Chiles, founding president of the HHTEF, said, “We are so grateful to the Front Porch Club and the community for supporting a new vision for our schools that will prepare our students to be critical thinkers. Tri-District Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Susan Compton, and her talented team are working so diligently to take our schools to the next level of excellence in science, technology, engineering, math, and the arts.”

“Last year the Strauss Mansion was a great facility for Chilifest, but we were pressured to grow and we ran out of room there,” said Joe Bowbliss, the Chilifest Planning Chair. “The Catamaran Club worked out wonderfully for the event. We had great weather, a view of the city, elbow room for all ages, local beer and rum, support from the town and club and I can go on and on. Most importantly, everywhere I looked, I saw my friends. It’s great being part of this town.”
