Rumson, NJ – This year’s Canterbury Art Show will offer extra show segments for the patrons of art to enjoy. Art from Artists gives attendees a chance to win a piece of donated art by many of the participating artists. Talented artists will also take part in Artists-at-Work. Add to this four architectural church tours and a special presentation of creating a bronze statue; and, you have three days to give your Labor Day weekend some interesting, exciting, educational diversion.   St. George’s-by-the-River Episcopal Church’s Canterbury Art Show … a Tapestry of the Arts, a premier local exhibition and sale of Juried and Non-Juried artwork will take place Labor Day weekend September 4, 5 and 6 at 7 Lincoln Avenue, Rumson, New Jersey.

“The diversity and breadth of artists is amazing and truly inspiring.” Art from Artist chair Carole Rogers. “We’re so grateful to the artists who have contributed to the drawings. Their generosity will help us with the grants we make to over 30 local agencies serving the needy of Monmouth and Ocean Counties.”

Many talented artists will also be taking part in Artist-at-Work. During daytime hours, artists will be painting and drawing on the church premises so art patrons are able to see the creative process in action. “It’s a great way for artists to engage with our visitors,” said Liz Hess, Artists-at-Work chair.

If you missed the Architectural Highlight Tours last year, or would like a refresher, try to make it for 1 of the 4 tours. Connie Grycska will again guide us with informative tours of St. George’s, Saturday and Sunday, 11:15 and 1:15. No reservations required. So easy, just be in the church at tour time.

Jim Fitzmaurice will conduct a free slide presentation for art show attendees to describe the process of creating the St. George’s new bronze statue of Jesus which graces the stone niche in the front of the church. This is a one-time experience. The presentation will be held in the library of the church, Saturday, September 5, at 3pm.
