ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ – On Wednesday, July 15, at 7:30 pm, learn about HAM (Amateur) Radio at the monthly meeting of the Atlantic Highlands Historical Society in Atlantic Highlands.

Radio communication has been around in many forms since before WW1. From Morse Code with it “dits” and “dahs”, to today’s satellite communications to astronauts, radio has been used to communicate in emergencies.  Ham operators have been vital links in events from medical problems to storms and shipwrecks.

Licensed HAM operators Bill Pointon (WA2CG)and Bill Hudzik (W2UDT) will share the excitement of this vibrant community of amateur broadcasters and emergency communicators.

The audience will learn how to earn a license to speak, type or use Morse Code to pass on information, data, or just chat with another HAM. There will be an illustrated talk, gadget review, and Q and A about this popular hobby and essential emergency communications system.

Bill Hudzik is a regional officer in the century old American Radio Relay League (ARRL) and has 25+ years experience as a HAM. Atlantic Highlands resident Bill Pointon is an expert HAM operator. Both have enjoyed many years of communication and comradeship over the airwaves.
