mater dei prep logoMIDDLETOWN, NJ – Encouraged by the tremendous outpouring of support from the school and parish community to keep Mater Dei Prep open, Father Jeff Kegley, Pastor of Saint Mary Church, in consultation with the Parish Finance Council, has announced a two month period of time to raise the one million dollars needed to enable Mater Dei Prep to keep its doors open.

It was originally announced Feb. 3rd that the school would close its doors this June due to severe multi-year deficits and a one million dollar shortfall for the current school year. Enrollment numbers had recently seen some growth, but have not stabilized to the point of sufficiently supporting the school’s viability.

Father Kegley has asked Mr. Jim Shaw, to spearhead a “Save the Seraphs” committee that will organize on Friday evening, February 6th at 7:00pm in Memorial Hall. All who are interested in supporting this effort are invited to attend. According to Mr. Shaw, one of the first priorities is to open on “on-line” account to enable people to iimmediately contribute.
