HIGHLANDS, NJ – A Highlands mother reports that her daughter was approached by an older man in a black SUV in the vicinity of Welsh Farms on Bay Avenue in the borough this afternoon around 3:15 p.m. The girl was asked to get in the car.  

Gina Venezio, of Highlands, wrote on facebook, “My daughter was walking home from school a few minutes ago near Welsh Farms and a man in a black car told her to get in!!! She is home safely thank God!!!”

She said her daughter, age 11, was approached by an older man with gray hair who appeared drunk and was driving a black car.  The man asked her to get in the car.  She ran home instead and reported it to her brother, age 13, who called their mother at work.  Mrs. Venezio then called police.

Officer George Ruth responded to the child’s home and took the report.

They issued a Swift 911 call to resident reporting the attempted abduction and said they were looking for a black SUV with a dented front fender and possibly tinted windows.  The said the driver was an older white man with gray hair
