Opening Reception, January 10
Atlantic Highlands, NJ – On Saturday, January 10, the Second Story Art Gallery presents “Double Take”, photographs by Gina Cioffi, with an opening reception from 4-6pm at 78 First Avenue, Atlantic Highlands. Exhibition is free and runs from January 10 to February 14; closing reception is February 14, 3-5pm.
Gina Cioffi says: “Double Take started with conversations Robert O’Connor and I had on capturing the early influence of growing up at the Shore and decades later returning and establishing a new community that was compelling and evoked the sense of belonging that eluded me for so long. Over the past six months of preparing and planning to capture local images, my story unfolded in ways I didn’t expect. I was challenged to pay attention not to the light or the composition, but to the yearning to confront the double-take of feeling and the quest for the miracles of joy, gestures and thoughts that make us glow. Double Take is my love letter to each ordinary day.”
A quote from Seamus Heaney “The Cure at Troy”:
Believe that a further shore
Is reachable from here.
Believe in miracles
And cures and healing wells.
