ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ – The Atlantic Highlands Shade Tree Commission has announced that this fall’s memorial tree planting will honor Joseph Hawley.

Mr. Hawley, a life long resident of Atlantic Highlands, was chosen because of his many years of service to the Borough as a member of the Shade Tree Commission.  Joe was always “walking” the Borough, checking on the condition of the trees, and investigating complaints or requests for tree plantings. He was a tireless advocate for adding new trees and maintaining existing trees in the Borough’s “Urban Forest”.  Joe passed away in May of this year.

The date of the ceremony will be October 17, 2014, 10:30 AM at the Atlantic Highlands Soccer Field (between Avenue D & Bowne Avenue) All are welcome to attend the ceremony and celebrate Joe’s tireless dedication to the Borough.  Light refreshments will be served immediately after the dedication.
