RED BANK, NJ – The Red Bank Public Library Annual Used Book Sale will be held by the Friends of the Red Bank Public Library September 12, 13, and 15, 2014.  The sale will begin with a special Preview Party on Friday, September 12, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. with refreshments, live music, raffles, and “first dibs” on the books.  Admission to the Preview Party is $25.00, but free for members of the Friends of the Library.  Sale hours begin at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, September 13, with an early entry fee of $10.00. Free entry takes place from 10:00 a.m. through 4:00 p.m. Saturday and again on Monday, September 15, Bag Sale Day, when you can fill a bag for $5.00. Join the Mommy & Me Music program for children 0 to 5 years old on Tuesday, September 16, 2014, at 11:00 a.m.  Early childhood music expert Lisa Hearns will lead you and your little ones in a celebration of songs from around the world, encouraging acceptance and promoting understanding of people from other backgrounds and cultures.  We will sing, dance, and play age appropriate instruments and enjoy a play-along at the end of the session.  Instruments are provided.  Children must be accompanied by a parent or an adult caregiver.  Registration is required for this free program. 

Children 5 to 12 years old are invited to Movie Time! at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 25, 2014. Come settle down with a fun family movie and enjoy a snack. This program is free and registration is required.

The Avice Noblett Children’s Room offers free drop-in Storytimes for young children with a caregiver at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesdays and at 1:30 p.m. on Thursdays.   Join Children’s Services Coordinator Sira Williams for some quick stories, musical activities, and a craft.

Join the next meeting of the Artists’ Workshop for adults at the Red Bank Public Library on Thursday, September 4, 2014, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.  Artists seeking inspiration, motivation, and time to devote to their work are invited to attend the Artists’ Workshop for meetings on the first Thursday of each month.   Red Bank artist Joe Bergholm, our Artist-in-Residence, works with the artists as a group and individually, offering suggestions for subjects as well as guidance in principles of art such as color, composition, and the selection and use of materials.   The Artists’ Workshop is free and no registration is required.  Participants should bring their own drawing and painting materials, although oils are not permitted because of ventilation concerns.

The Red Bank Public Library monthly adult book discussion group, Readin’ on the River, will meet on Wednesday, September 17, 2014, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. to discuss Lies My Teacher Told Me by James W. Loewen. Please contact the library for information on the current off-site location.

A free 10-week session of English as a Second Language Classes conducted by the Literacy Volunteers of Monmouth County for adults 18 and over will begin at the library on Thursday, September 18, 2014, at 7:00 p.m.  Registration will take place at the ESL classes on September 18 and 25.  Please contact the Literacy Volunteers of Monmouth County at 732-571-0209 or visit their website at for information on ESL classes, volunteer tutor training classes, and English conversation classes throughout Monmouth County.

The Red Bank Public Library offers free weekly one-hour Yoga for Adults on Fridays from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.  There will be no class on Friday, September, 12, 2014, to allow for preparation for the library’s annual book sale.   The class is appropriate for all levels of yoga experience. Please bring your own yoga mat.  Registration is not required.  Participants attend on a first come, first served basis up to a total of twenty people.

The Red Bank Senior Center in cooperation with the Red Bank Public Library hosts a book discussion group on the last Monday of each month at the Senior Center at 1:00 p.m. except in December.  Red Bank Borough residents age 60 and over are welcome to join the Center and participate in this or any of its

The Board of Trustees of the Red Bank Public Library will meet on Thursday, September 18, 2014, at 6:30 p.m. at the library.  These meetings are open to the public.
