BELMAR, NJ – Today Mayor Matt Doherty announced that Belmar is currently seeking volunteers to join a newly formed C.E.R.T. Team (Community Emergency Response Team).  C.E.R.T.  Programs help train people to be better prepared and to respond to emergency situations in their community.

When emergencies happen, C.E.R.T. members can give the critical support to First Responders, provide immediate assistance to victims and organize spontaneous volunteers at a disaster site.  C.E.R.T. members can also help with non-emergency projects that help improve the safety of the community.  The events of September 11th and the devastation of Hurricane Sandy proved the need of organized civilian teams.

For more information on joining, contact Franny Hines at (848) 207-6500 or [email protected].
