ATLANTIC  HIGHLANDS —The First Presbyterian Church will hold its 11 a.m. Sunday worship service at the Gazebo in the municipal harbor, followed by a church picnic.
Members of the Hope Presbyterian Church of Tinton Falls are expected to attend and all area residents are invited.
Participants are encouraged to let the church know who will be attending by signing up in advance and indicate what food they will be bringing on a sign-up sheet located in the rear of the church. They may also call the church office at 732 291-9265.
The Rev. Paul F. Rack, pastor of both the Atlantic Highlands and Tinton Falls churches will preach on “Givers and Takers” in a message in which Jesus contrasts the pompous self-righteous, self-satisfaction of the religious professionals to the simple faith of a poor widow upon whose generosity they live.
The pastor’s message is based on Scripture found in Luke 21:420:20-47.
The pastor will also administer Holy Communion during the service while David Nunez will provide the music.
Services will return to the 124-year-old church at Third and E. Highland Avenues next Sunday, Aug. 24, and will be held through August in the church’s Fellowship Hall in the rear of the sanctuary as part of the summer-long casual program which includes bagels and coffee for attendees.
Child care and activities for all children are provided during all services held at the church. Sunday School will resume in the fall and all area children are welcome.
