Middletown, N.J.-  The New Jersey Blind Citizens Association (NJBCA) will be hosting  the 9th Annual Gift Auction on Friday, May 30th   from 6-11pm at VFW Post #2179, 1 Veterans Lane, Port Monmouth N.J. 07758.    The event is the largest fundraiser of the year for the 104-year old organization. All proceeds enable NJBCA to continue the mission of providing year-round programs for participants that attend Camp Happiness, the main campus located in the Leonardo section of Middletown.

     General admission is $20 and includes one sheet of tickets.  Admission tickets must be purchased in advance. No tickets will be sold at the door.  A special package discount for additional prize tickets is available with advance payment ONLY.  This is a $40 value for $30 and must be ordered and paid for by May 21.  This special package deal is ONLY available until May 21.  There will be NO package deals available the night of the auction.  No one under 18 will be admitted.  Attendees are welcome to bring their own food, but no alcohol will be permitted.  Coffee, tea, water, soda and desserts will be provided at the tables.  Boy Scout troop #364 will be selling hot dogs and snacks as a fundraiser for a nominal fee.  Doors will open for the blind and visually-impaired at 5:30 pm and at 6 PM for general admission.  Calling will begin promptly at 7:30 p.m.

     The New Jersey Blind Citizens Association is the oldest organization of its kind serving the blind and visually impaired in NJ.  The mission is to improve the lives of the blind and visually impaired economically, vocationally, educationally and socially.  Through free programs and services, NJBCA helps to unlock opportunities and open doors to growth, happiness and new experiences.  The participants of Camp Happiness gain independence and confidence to lead healthy, self-sufficient and productive lives.   Through the day camp and other initiatives, NJBCA offers an arts program which encourages participants to express themselves thorough drawing, painting and sculpture (proctored by an artist); a wellness program to educate and empower the blind and visually-impaired; a peer support group to foster coping skills relative to the challenges and issues associated with vision loss; an award- winning crochet group; a gardening club; and technology training.  There is also a social component with special interest activities and day trips.
