ahpd patchATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ – Atlantic Highlands Police Chief Jerry Vasto reports a 57 year old worker fell approximately 35’ down an elevator shaft while working on a Bayside Drive house which is under construction.

The call came into Police Headquarters at 10:46 A.M. Due to the nature of the call a MEDEVAC helicopter was put on standby as Sergeant Alfred Conover and Patrolman Adam Gurian were headed to the scene.

Upon arrival the Officers had to climb downs several ladders in order to reach the victim who had fallen from the third floor of the residence.

The victim was conscious and alert and had suffered injuries to both legs. The MEDEVAC helicopter was dispatched and landed in Atlantic Highlands prior to the extrication of the victim from the elevator shaft.

MONOC paramedics tended to the victim who was extricated from the elevator shaft by the Atlantic Highlands Fire Department and transported to a landing zone in Atlantic Highlands where the MEDEVAC helicopter was waiting. The victim was flown to Jersey Shore Medical Center.
