Wayne, PA – Valley Forge Military Academy & College is pleased to announce that Ethan J. Kelley, E Battery, Academy Freshman of Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey has earned the coveted President’s Award for the 2013-14 Academic Year. Nine other new cadets at Valley Forge have earned this award, one cadet from each different company.

The President’s Award is presented to the most outstanding New Cadet in each Company of the Corps of Cadets. The award is based on academic and disciplinary proficiency, esprit de corps, loyalty and identification with the philosophy of Valley Forge Military Academy & College during the period 1 October 2013 – 27 February 2014. Winners of the award will receive an additional day of leave as prescribed by the President, VFMA&C.

Founded in 1928, the mission of Valley Forge Military Academy & College is to produce strong leaders of character where our young cadets become fully prepared to meet their responsibilities, to be alert in mind, sound in body and considerate of others, and to demonstrate a high sense of duty, honor, loyalty and courage. Hailing from 29 states and 26 countries, the Academy has over 300 young men from grade seven through twelve and postgraduate. A challenging curriculum, dedicated faculty members, small classes, individual attention, and faculty supervised evening study hall provides cadets with an environment conducive to attaining academic success. The acquisition of knowledge, the development of skills, and the shaping of attitudes are emphasized to enable the cadets to excel academically and to inspire them to pursue education throughout life. The average class size is 13, and the student-teacher ratio is 10:1. The two-year transfer college, founded in 1935, is home to over 300 young women and men.

VFMA&C is the alma mater of such distinguished alumni as Rhodes Scholar, White House Fellow and author Westley W. O. Moore ’96/’98C; author J. D. Salinger ’36; U. S. Senator Warren B. Rudman ’48; GEN H. Norman Schwarzkopf ’52, Commander of Operation Desert Storm; former Governor of Puerto Rico, The Honorable Rafael Hernandez Colon ’54; NFL player Aaron Beasley ’92; and 2003 Heisman Trophy runner-up, 2004 third overall NFL draft pick Arizona Cardinals player, Larry Fitzgerald ’02.
