ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS — The Rev. Barbara A. Macfie will be the guest speaker at the 10 a.m. worship service this week on World Communion Sunday at the First Presbyterian Church. She will also administer the monthly Holy Communion.
Her sermon is entitled “A Question of Balance.”
“The sermon will address time, wisdom, and balance in relation to how, where, and why we serve our God,” according to Macfie. “The question the sermon raises is: Are we Christians for a moment, only as we share the bread and the cup, only as we worship together, or are we Christians for a lifetime, living out our faith day by day?”
Macfie is an ordained Presbyterian minister and a counselor in private practice in Metuchen.
Following Communion, the youngsters of the church will attend Sunday School, which is open to all area children.
The church’s adult choir, directed by David Nunez, will also sing during the service. It rehearses at 7:30 p.m. each Thursday and is seeking new members.
