By Presidential Proclamation the thirteen year period from May 28, 2012 to November 11, 2025 has been designated as the Commemoration time frame.  As a Partner the Township will conduct two events each year in 2015, 2016, and 2017 that will celebrate and honor these veterans and their families.  In a welcome letter to the Township the Department of Defense Director of Commemorations, Lieutenant General Claude Kidlighter stated: “Congratulations on volunteering to become a Commemorative Partner with the United States of America Vietnam War Commemoration and thank you for your willingness to assist this nation in properly thanking and honoring our Vietnam Veterans and their families.”

An eight member committee has been established for planning purposes and public input is welcomed.  Those with ideas or suggestions are urged to contact the Middletown Veterans Affairs Committee at Town Hall. Mayor Gerard P. Scharfenberger who will serve on this committee noted: “It is long past time when this particular group of veterans and their families should receive the honor to which they are entitled.  We are particularly proud as a community to be involved in this endeavor.”
