A home collapsed in Highlands this evening. The one story house at 49 Second Street was being lifted as a result of the flooding from Sandy last year.
Witnesses said the home was sitting on metal stilts before it crashed to the ground.
This is the second home in recent weeks to come crashing down off their lifts. On August 23rd, another home being lifted in the borough collapsed into the neighboring home. Both homes were destroyed and removed from the lots.
There has been periods of heavy rain on Thursday. some neighbors speculated the rain may have contributed to the collapse Friday.
