KEYPORT, NJ – The Keyport Yacht Club (KYC) will be hosting the 13th Annual Bill Volk Regatta & Charity Cup June 22-23 in Keyport, NJ.  This year’s charity campaign is “Sailing for the Bayshore” to benefit the RAINE (Reaching All In Need Everyday) Foundation of Hazlet, NJ. Sailors from around the Raritan Bay will be racing to help raise funds for those in the Bayshore area most affected by Superstorm Sandy.

“There has been a lot of progress made since Superstorm Sandy devastated our community, but many of our friends and neighbors are still struggling to rebuild,” said Keyport Yacht Club Commodore Ann Quinn. “We have experienced the disruption and cost of rebuilding ourselves and it gives us great satisfaction to be able to help our neighbors.”

“We are thrilled to partner with the Keyport Yacht Club’s annual charity event this year. With the generous support of everyone involved, RAINE will be able to provide assistance where needed and help the rebuilding process,” said Mike Fabozzi, President, RAINE Foundation.

There are many exciting events planned for both racers and non-racers during the Regatta weekend. This includes two days of competitive racing for one design divisions, mono-hull boats over 21’ in length, and a fun Navigator Division race on Saturday.  Racers can register for the Regatta online at

All registered racers are welcome to attend the “After the Races” Happy Hour on Saturday, featuring craft beer from Carton Brewing Company of Atlantic Highlands, appetizers and live music. The evening will continue with a dinner reception for racers, KYC members and their guests, which will feature a silent auction and live entertainment. Tickets for the dinner reception will be sold at the door for $25.

A highlight of the evening will be a Keyport town-wide “Light the Bayshore” ceremony to remember the aftermath of Sandy. On the evening of June 22, shortly after sunset, boaters in Keyport Harbor will light their boats to brighten the bay while those on land will carry lights to illuminate the shore.

This stunning light display will be a sign of hope for strengthening our communities as well as a celebration of all the work that has been done so far.  The public can participate in this event by coming to the Keyport Waterfront Park before sunset.

Businesses and homes along the waterfront are also encouraged to shine their lights to help create a truly memorable display of lights along the Bayshore. There will be light sticks available for a small donation benefitting the RAINE Foundation. Representatives from the RAINE Foundation will be selling t-shirts for the event and there will be fun activities planned for the kids sponsored by the Keyport recreation department.
