Speaker: Joe Reynolds ~ Monmouth County Park System, Senior Park Naturalist, Bayshore Waterfront Park

ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ – The Atlantic Highlands Historical Society will host a presentation by Joe Reynolds on Marine life along the Monmouth County shores on Wednesday June 19 at the Strauss Mansion 27 Prospect Circle at 7:30pm.

Mr. Reynolds will speak on the diversity of marine life found near and along Monmouth County’s coastline, from Blue Whales to Blue-Claw Crabs to Great Blue Herons to Horseshoe Crabs that have blue blood! Let local naturalist and nature writer Joe Reynolds help you to better understand the amazing creatures found throughout the year under the sea and along the shore where the wind, waves, salt, and sand create a truly unique and dynamic environment. A lively power-point presentation will be joined with local coastal artifacts that people will be able to see and touch including unusual shells, bones, and strange beach finds. This will be a great way to get ready for a summer spent along the Jersey Shore!

In addition to working with the park system, Joe Reynolds is an adjunct professor at both Monmouth University and Brookdale Community College. Joe is also co-chair of the Bayshore Watershed Council, an all-volunteer organization dedicated since 2000 to restoring water quality in Sandy Hook Bay and Raritan Bay. Joe holds a Masters degree in Environmental Studies from Bard College and has lived along the coast his entire life.
