Keyport, NJ  — Alongside the many local businesses celebrating a recovery and return in time for the summer season, something else is happening too. A renewed sense of community and appreciation for the shore is inspiring new businesses, new ideas, and new growth.

“For a long time, my wife and I had talked about opening some type of new business.  After Sandy, it all became clear. We were going to do it, and do it right here in Keyport,” said Ted Mikolasy, local resident and owner of the newly opened Teddy’s Jam and Jelly Shop. “Keyport is the best kept secret. Perfect for the type of charming specialty shop we had planned, and no better time than now to help rejuvenate our downtown.”

And with the new business, came a new idea. Uniquely, the shop carries a broad selection ofJams, Jellies, Preserves, Marmalades, Fruit Butters, and Flavored Honeys – from a variety of producers all across the country. Ted added, “We hope to feature a local product from each of the 50 states – all representing their own special story.” Whether gifting family, friends, or simply oneself, the shop also carries teas, shortbread, scone mixes, kitchen accents, retro candies, custom gift baskets and more.

Teddy’s is a fun personality and quaint atmosphere to enjoy, and a spoonful of delicious little things to love. “We’re very excited to be open, and if our story motivates others to shop our shore or think about starting their own local business, that’s even better,” said Ted.

Teddy’s is located at 54 Broad Street in Keyport. Hours are Wed-Fri from noon to 6pm, and Sat from 10am to 6pm.
