MIDDLETOWN, NJ – At 3:39 PM on Friday March 22th, 2013, the Middletown Township Fire Department was dispatched to the area of 18 Borden Road for a “report of a heavy smoke condition, possible structure fire, smoke seen from the back of a house”.  Approximately 30 firefighters from 3 companies of the Middletown Township Fire Department (Middletown, River Plaza, and Old Village Fire Companies), under the command of Department Chief John D’Altilio, responded to the scene.   Upon their arrival, the firefighters encountered a fire on the deck attached to the rear of a residential structure at 24 Borden Road.  The firefighters quickly extinguished a fire which was contained to the exterior of the structure.

Also assisting at the scene were the MTFD Air Unit and Fairview and Leonardo EMS units. 

There were no reported injuries. 

The cause fire is being investigated by the Middletown Township Fire Prevention Bureau.
