Reading from His Play

Lincroft, NJ – Brookdale Community College’s celebrated Visited Writers Series for Spring Fall 2014 will host Michael Broek Wednesday, February 13 at 7:00 p.m. in the Warner Student Life Center Navesink room III. He will read from his play, The Logic of Yoo.

bcc_michael_broekMichael Broek’s chapbook, The Logic of Yoo, was issued by Beloit Poetry Journal in 2011. His work has been published or is forthcoming in the American Poetry Review, Blackbird, Literary Imagination, Pif, MiPOesias, Fourteen Hills, The Sycamore Review, The Cimarron Review, Parthenon West Review, Pif, MiPOesias, and elsewhere in print and online.

Broek has held a scholarship to the Bread Loaf Writers Conference and a Fellowship to the NJ State Arts Council. Currently, he is the Managing Editor of Mead: The Magazine of Literature & Libations, and the Chief Curator of Trans-Portal: The Hub of Trans-Formation Studies.  Broek holds a PhD in literature and his scholarly work has appeared or is forthcoming in The Journal of American Studies, Literature Compass, and The European Journal of American Studies.

The Visiting Writers Series presentations feature a complimentary coffee and biscotti bar. The event is free; $3 donation is suggested for the Brookdale Community College Creative Writing Club. The monies are used to underwrite educational field trips for students. The Office of Student Life and Activities, the English Division and the Creative Writing Club co-sponsor the Series.
