MIDDLETOWN, NJ – At 1:56 PM on Friday January 11th, 2013, the Middletown Township Fire Department was dispatched to 127 Cherry Tree Farm Road in the New Monmouth section of the Township for a “fully involved house fire” at that location. Approximately 45 firefighters from 4 companies of the Middletown Township Fire Department (East Keansburg, Old Village, Port Monmouth, and Community Fire Companies), under the command of Department Chief John D’Altilio, responded to the scene. Upon their arrival, the firefighters encountered a 2 story residential structure with smoke coming out of multiple side of the structure. The firefighters quickly extinguished a fire in the kitchen area and then attacked the blaze which had extended to the attic spaces. Chief D’Altilio declared the fire under control by 2:15 PM and all Fire Department units cleared the scene by 4:00 PM.
Also assisting at the scene were the MTFD Fire Police, MTFD Air Unit and Middletown Township EMS units.
The structure suffered smoke and fire damage.
A firefighter from the Port Monmouth Fire Company was transported to Riverview Medical Center by the Fairview First Aid Squad where he was treated for heat exhaustion related injuries.
The cause fire is being investigated by the Monmouth County Fire Marshall’s office and the Middletown Township Fire Prevention Bureau.
