ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ – The Atlantic Highlands Community Events Committee is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit, non political organization founded by Mayor Fred Rast to help the residents and organization in Atlantic Highlands.  The organization has assisted with funds to the Atlantic Highlands Library; the First Aid Squad, The Historical Society, the Arts Council as well as others.

The Atlantic Highlands Community Events Committee is in a unique position to help the victims of “Sandy”.  They have created the “Hurricane Sandy Relief Effort” to facilitate getting help to those in need quickly and efficiently.   The fund will be available to residents in the Bayshore area from Keyport to Monmouth Beach.  This unprecedented storm has necessitated the expansion of its mission to help our neighbors in need in the most effective way possible.

Committee member, Jane Frotton writes, “We are very fortunate to report that the Atlantic Highlands “Hurricane Sandy Relief Effort” through the Community Events Committee have received $27,800 to assist families with unmet needs as a result of Hurricane Sandy”.  Donations may be earmarked   “Hurricane Sandy Relief Effort” and mailed to PO box 488, Atlantic Highlands, NJ 07716.  Members of the committee include Mickey Rast, Tom Veth, CPA; Mary Thompson, Bill Kuzmin, Esq.; Cindy Fligor, Kim Spatola and Jane Frotton.  Applications will be available and reviewed to ensure policy is followed.  More donations would be appreciated.  It is nice to know that we received a donation from as far as London, UK.  Thank you donors.  Please be generous.”

The Committee is asking that you help by digging deep to help our neighbors who are less fortunate. There are many organizations collecting food, clothing and household items.  Our goal is to assist with financial needs not covered by other organizations or FEMA.  This effort is going to take a huge amount of money to make a difference.  Checks can be dropped off at the Atlantic Highlands Cinema or the Salon @68 on First Ave Atlantic Highlands, or mailed to PO Box 488, Atlantic Highlands, NJ 07716.
