Dear Editor,
The recent surge of shootings in the City of Asbury Park is occurring solely due to the failed, “War on Drugs”.

If drugs were legalized, the gang members largely responsible for these shootings would not have a source of income to buy guns with.

Community leaders must demand an end to the racist, “War on Drugs”, which disproportionately victimizes racial minorities and poor people

A decriminalized, healthcare based approach to drugs similar to that of Portugal must be demanded of the NJ State Legislature and Governor.
