ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ – Sunday’s service at the First Presbyterian Church will be conducted by the Christian Clowns, featuring Lou Lou the Clown, with assistance from Pastor Michael Riley.

All area children and parents are invited to the 10 a.m. worship service to see Lou Lou (Lou Drew Harmon), who is a former member of the church.

The following Sunday, Sept. 16, Sunday School classes will resume after the weekly children’s sermon during which Riley will continue his “mystery bag” series.

During the children’s sermon, youngsters try to “stump  the pastor” by placing personal “treasures” in brown paper bags. The minister then creates a message from the contents of a bag.

In addition to being pastor of the church, Riley is a columnist, staff writer and editorial writer at the Asbury Park Press. His column, the “Irreverent Reverend,” appears on Fridays.

The 122-year-old, handicapped accessible church at Third and E. Highland Aves. has extra parking available in a new municipal lot next to the Christian Education Building on East Highland avenue.

Child care for four-year-olds and younger continues to be provided during the regular worship service.
