MIDDLETOWN, NJ – The Mayor and Township Committee honored the Animal Control Officer, a ballplayer, a firefighter, and a soccer team at the June meeting for outstanding achievements.

Animal Control Officer Robert Card has been named Employee of the Month for the month of May for his assistance at the scene of an accident. On the morning of May 10th, Robert was returning from a call when he came across a motor vehicle accident at the comer of Chapel Hill and Kings Hwy East. After pulling over, he began to direct traffic and contacted the Police Department. Robert continued to keep the cars moving, avoiding any other incidents until the Police arrived and took control of the accident scene.

Jack Bayard Sr. was presented with Middletown’s first Key to City in honor of his 50 years of dedicated service as a volunteer firefighter. The Township Committee also proclaimed May 11, 2012 – the day his company celebrated the milestone – as John W. Bayard, Sr. Day. Jack joined the East Keansburg Fire Company in 1962 and ascended the ranks to become Middletown Fire Department Chief in 1991. Jack remains an integral part of the fighting community, having donated thousands of hours over the last 50 years to help keep Middletown safe.

The Township Committee honored George Ramos Curvy for being inducted into the Seton Hall University Athletics Hall of Fame. The Committee proclaimed June 11, 2012 – the day of the induction ceremony – as George Ramos Curvy Day. George, a Middletown High School graduate, played several seasons for the Atlanta Braves before an unfortunate injury cut his career short. As founder and coach of the New Jersey Nationals Travel Baseball Team, George continues share his love of baseball with young players in Middletown.

The Township Committee also invited the U11 Girls Soccer Team Fusion Red to the meeting to celebrate the team winning 2012 New Jersey State Cup. Go Team! The members of the team are:
