Detours to be in place during the overnight project

MIDDLETOWN, NJ – West Front Street Bridge (S-17) will close at 9 p.m. Thursday, June 7 to allow maintenance crews time to tighten the deck plates on the bridge, weather permitting. The work is routine for this temporary bridge and it will reopen at 5 a.m. Friday morning.

All vehicle traffic will be detoured. Approaching Red Bank from West Front Street in Middletown, motorists will be directed to turn left onto Hubbard Avenue, then right onto Navesink River Road, and then right again onto Route 35 south, which will take them into Red Bank.

Conversely, motorists wishing to reach West Front Street in Middletown from Red Bank will be directed to travel north on Route 35, turn left on Navesink River Road, and turn left again onto Hubbard Avenue, which will bring them back to West Front Street on the west side of the bridge.

“This routine maintenance work is necessary to continue the safe use of the bridge and travel in the area,” Freeholder Deputy Director Thomas A. Arnone said.
