MIDDLETOWN, NJ – The Plein Air Painters of the Jersey Coast (PAPJC) will present its Tenth Annual Member Art Show at the Middletown Arts Center from Friday, June 1 through Friday, June 15, with hundreds of new, original works of art, on display and for sale, in the main galleries of the Middletown Arts Center.

Opening Wine and Cheese Reception is scheduled on Sat June 2 from 7-9 PM.  Free admission.

The full show will be on display for two weeks, from June 1-15, 2012.

The Plein Air Painters of the Jersey Coast is a dedicated group of local artists who concentrate on painting outside of the studio, in the classic “en plein air” technique first practiced by the French Impressionists.  You can see these artists at their easels, at local sites, at our waterways, parks and piers, capturing beautiful scenes in and around Coastal and Central Jersey, with a special focus on Monmouth County.

Working in the open air allows the artists to capture the unique colors and shimmering lights on canvass, effects that are greatly intensified when the artist paints under an open sky. The bulk of the show images are from New Jersey, with most of the artists painting landscapes and seascapes from Coastal and Central New Jersey with a strong focus on eastern Monmouth County. Different artists bring back canvasses from vacation destinations from all over the country. Works are presented in oil, watercolor, acrylic and pastel.
