Little Silver, NJ – Red Bank Regional’s National Art Honor Society (NAHS) hosted its sixth annual Art Auction, Art for Heart’s Sake,” on February 24 to benefit Amanda’s Easel. Over 50 pieces of stunning student art were auctioned off to the highest bidder in a festive backdrop of the New Orleans Mardi Gras. Patrons and local businesses provided food and refreshments. In all, over $1,800 hundred dollars was raised by the honor art students to benefit Amada’s Easel Creative Arts Therapy Program. The program is sponsored by 180 Turning Lives Around, and helps children in
Cindi Westendorf, the Program Coordinator of Amanda’s Easel thanked the NAHS and their advisor, RBR commercial art teacher Claudia O’Connor, for their continued generosity in raising funds for Amanda’s Easel stating, “I had to count all the years you have been doing this for us, it is really unbelievable.”
Claudia O’Connor comments, “I am so proud of our students who put on this wonderful show year after year. It is fitting that they are raising money selling their talented artwork to allow children to heal deep wounds through their own artwork.”
The lucky bidders were able to take home spectacular pastels, oil paintings, acrylics, water colors, mixed media, pencil drawings, and photographs at bargain basement prices.

RBR parent and auction attendee Randy McAdam was very impressed with the quality of the work. Having recently visited many college art programs to which his daughter may apply, he commented, “The work of these high school students is as good as anything we saw at the colleges. This is a great high school art program!”
