MONMOUTH BEACH, NJ – Tyrrell (Peggy) Masse, an artist and entrepreneur who has lived and worked in Monmouth Beach for 14 years, is showing her abstract paintings in the town’s micro-roastery, Booskerdoo. The show will run from Friday, January 27th to Thursday, March 8th.
Ms. Masse’s business ventures, many art related, have included “Art Show and Sell” developed to place artists’ work in different locations; “Move n Art,” a collection of art pieces which run on flat screens; Artventures, a group of women artists who often show their work at the Oyster Point Hotel in Red Bank; and the Shore Women Networking group, a group of about 30 business women who support each other with referrals and business pointers. Peggy was also a founder of the Shore Women Abstract Gallery, which operated for a year in Asbury Park.
“I have a passion for helping artists, and I especially love it when I can combine that love with my charity work,” says Peggy. In fact, the Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders recognized Peggy’s volunteer efforts by honoring her with a Citizen Service Award in 2010. She has been a volunteer for HABcore, chairing the Artist Studio Tour and participating in many other of HABcore’s programs and events.

This art show, along with four others, has been organized by Monmouth Beach artist and art educator, ellen martin. “For me, it’s important to try to provide artists with one of the things they need the most – a place to show their work. The minute I walked into Booskerdoo, I knew I wanted to have art shows here, and James was immediately receptive to the idea. It’s a great collaboration between me, the artists and a business owner. There are a lot of artists right here in town. The trend right now in the art world is do ‘pop-up shows’, and work is being shown in many different kinds of venues. I’m happy we can do it here.”
Booskerdoo is a micro-roastery offering fresh-brewed coffee, tea, espresso, cold drinks and breakfast. They opened in April of 2012, and according to owner James Caverly, “The shop and our coffee brand are growing at a strong and steady rate. It’s fun, flattering, and exciting to see the surrounding community embrace us so graciously, as well as to provide them fantastic coffee.”
They are located in Monmouth Beach at 36 Beach Road, #9 in the Village Square. Show and store hours are M – F 6:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. and Sat. – Sun. from 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
