ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ – The children of the First Presbyterian Church will present their annual Christmas program, a musical entitled “Our Christmas Story,” during Sunday’s 10 a.m. worship service.

   The service marks the fourth Sunday in Advent and the Advent candle will be lighted by the Sunday School students and their teachers.

   The church’s pastor, the Rev. Michael Riley, will present a sermon  entitled “The Shepherds’ Tale,” which focuses on how Christmas upends and transforms everyday life.”

   The adult choir will offer special music during the service.

   The annual Christmas Eve candlelight service will begin at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 24, while the the birth of Christ will be celebrated during the 10 a.m. Christmas Day service on Sunday, Dec. 25.

   Members and friends are urged to donate to the community Food Pantry by bringing non-perishable items to the church, which will then be delivered to the pantry at the United Methodist Church.

   Riley, pastor since April, is a former Baptist minister studying for ordination in the Presbyterian Church USA. He is a columnist, staff writer and editorial writer at the Asbury Park Press. His column, “Only Human,” appears on Fridays.

   The 121-year-old, handicapped accessible church at Third and E. Highland Aves., offers extra parking in a new municipal lot next to the Christian Education Building on East Highland Avenue.

   Child care for four-year-olds and younger continues to be provided during the regular worship service.
