Words cannot express our deep appreciation for those who supported Ava’s Memorial Blood Drive at Brookdale Community College on November 1st.  Whether you donated blood, attempted to donate and were deferred, or volunteered your time assisting donors, we thank you for your time, energy and support in helping others in our community.

At this year’s drive, a total of 69 donors presented themselves to donate and many were first-time donors. Central Jersey Blood Center was able to collect 60 units of blood.  Keeping in mind that each donation can be used in three ways, a total of 180 people in our community were given blood thanks to your help.

Here are a few facts about blood donation:

  • One out of every 10 people entering a hospital needs blood.
  • There is no substitute for human blood. It cannot be artificially created.
  • 4.5 million Americans would die each year without life-saving blood transfusions.

The most important thing to remember is that you are making a difference.  You are helping to save lives, and for that, you deserve thanks.  We look forward to seeing you at next year’s drive.

With Warmest Regards,

Bob & Gail Pellicone
