MIDDLETOWN, NJ – A burglary occurred on Cypress Neck Road in Middletown on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at approximately 12 noon.  The suspect forced entry to the home by breaking a window

located at the rear of the house, but was confronted by an alert neighbor who observed the suspect attempting to leave the home with stolen property.  A brief struggle ensued in the driveway to the home, and the suspect dropped the property and fled the area in a Silver 4 door Audi Car.

The suspect is described as a male in his early 30’s, approximately 5’08” having a thin build and short dark hair.  The suspect had light facial hair described as a thin beard and mustache at the time of the incident and was wearing a dark sweatshirt and pants.  Police believe the suspect may be responsible for several other recent burglaries which have occurred during late morning and early afternoon hours in the neighborhood.

Police have signed complaints for Burglary, Criminal Mischief, and Theft, for the initial crime which was then elevated to Strong Armed Robbery and Aggravated Assault as a result of the struggle with the neighbor.  Police have identified a suspect and are actively attempting to locate and arrest him at this time.  The investigation is being conducted by Detectives First Class, Adam Finck, Bill Strohkirch and Danny Sullivan.

Residents can help safeguard their neighborhood by remaining vigilant and immediately calling the Police at 732-615-2100 to report any suspicious persons or activity.
