ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ – My name is Ed Woodruff, and I am Boy Scout in Troop 22 in Atlantic Highlands. I am currently working to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest honor in Scouting. I have one final step towards completing the rank of Eagle which is to complete a Leadership Service Project for the community.  My project is to build and install four beautiful park benches in the Lenape Woods Nature Preserve in town. I believe by doing so, people will be able to stop, rest and enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings the preserve offers.  The benches will be placed at specific trail intersections or scenic areas.

To help accomplish this goal,  I am looking for donations to help fund the construction and placement of these benches.  Each bench costs $200 dollars to build and install on mounting brackets into the ground (see the design image above). As a way to create community interest in donating, for a $200 donation I will mount a brass plaque with a custom inscription at the top of each bench to commemorate a relative or friend that you would  like to be remembered for years to come.  This is a tradition in many parks around the world.

While the project totals $800, any donations are greatly appreciated and will help fund the materials for this worthy project.

If you are interested or know someone who is interested in sponsoring a bench, please call me at 908-902-6772 or email me at [email protected].
